Katie Anne's First Theater Trip!

On Tuesday, Katie Anne and I headed to the Regal Cinemas for their free Family Film Festival. It was her first time ever in the movies, and it was great!

At select theaters, they offer free kids' movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I guess they make their money on concessions, because the line was packed! Since Katie Anne can't really eat popcorn or drink soft drinks yet, we skipped the line and brought in our own apple juice and Goldfish. So, it really is free for us! This week's choices were Shrek the III and Kit Kittredge- American Girl. We chose Shrek, and went in to find a seat at about ten 'til 10:00. It was almost full then, and it is first come, first served, so I'd advise anyone else interested in trying it out to not be late! They did turn people away... I saw them when we went to the bathroom a few minutes after ten.

I was not sure how Katie Anne would do for a full-length feature film. She's never sat down and watched a full thirty-minute show at home, much less a whole movie. She will watch a movie in the car on long drives, but that's sort of a captive audience thing. So, I was fully prepared to leave at any time. However, she did GREAT and just loved it! She got a little nervous when they turned the lights out, and she didn't like sitting in her own seat after a while... I think it was hard on her to keep if from folding up, and she felt like it was going to close on her. So, she sat in my lap, and we watched the whole movie! She didn't want to leave when the credits started rolling. She's still talking about it today- her favorite parts are the babies playing in the mud and the gingerbread man pooping out pink candy!

So, I think we'll definitely be making more free visits to the movie theaters this summer. Sounds like a weekly fun, free mom-and-daughter activity!

Who wouldn't be mesmerized by something like this?

Outside the theater... we can't wait to go back!

Sounds like fun! I'll have to try and take Lily - that's one outing we haven't braved yet! Glad she liked it!

I've been thinking about taking Handley to one of these, so I'm glad to know that Katie Anne enjoyed it!
