Well, we did it - we lived through the first week back to school and work! Both kids had a great first day and got great reports from their teachers. I didn't get to take any pictures on Monday morning because we were trying to get everything together - and I certainly wasn't going to ask poor Saunders to try to take any as he took both kids to daycare by himself for the first time! I did snap some pictures of both of them after we got home Monday night...
Katie Anne opening her "great behavior at dropoff" surprise... she had no tears at dropoff all week!
She got a great report from Mrs. Lakin:

Katie Anne studied bugs this week and did lots of great work:
Overall, the week went as well as could be expected. Everyone was very busy and very tired, but we all made it to work/school on time and had good days. In the evenings, it was pretty much crash time around here! Both kids - and both adults - were exhausted every night. We were very lucky that VJ sent us pot roast and veggies for Monday, Gigi brought us chicken and veggies on Tuesday, Mamaw brought us soup and sandwiches on Wednesday, and Gigi made us hot dogs and chili on Thursday. We're spoiled! I don't know what we'll do when I have to make dinner at night after work!
The transition wasn't too tough for Katie Anne, but SJ just can't sleep well at daycare. He doesn't cry and is very pleasant there, but he comes home exhausted every day. Poor SJ went to bed really early every night ... but never fear - we still woke up for those nighttime feedings! :) Hopefully he'll start sleeping through the night soon. Here are both tired kids laid out on the floor after their first day...
Unfortunately, both kids ended our first week back with a stomach bug on Friday. It is tough to have two kids sick at the same time - Friday night was probably the longest night of our parenthood experience! Luckily, both kids were only sick for about 24 hours, never ran a fever, and both are back to their old selves now. After what seems like a way too short weekend, it's back to the grindstone tomorrow! Hopefully it will get easier and easier as we get into our routines.

Hey Katie! I have been thinking about you a lot as I know you headed back to work last week. Reading your update was encouraging. Sounded like a good week minus the bug at the end of it. I loved the picture of the kids sprawled out on the floor. You have the most beautiful children! I love reading about your sweet family.
My gosh...they are just so cute!
