While I was unloading the dishwasher the other day, Katie Anne was serenading SJ with an original song inspired by him: "He's My Baby Boy". Of course, I had to stop unloading the dishes and sneak to grab my camera!

Say Hey (I Love You!)
One of Katie Anne's current favorite songs is "Say Hey (I Love You!)" by Michael Franti. I sang it to her a few times, and then we heard the song on the radio, and she totally loves it. She loves to sing it, and it is totally cute!

Mr. Golden Sun
Remember, a few weeks ago, when Katie Anne tried to sing Mr. Golden Sun?
And she didn't know it?
Well, good news... she knows it!
And, guess what?
She loves loves loves loves to sing it in the car!
(Yes, I made that video while driving, but it was totally safe. Can't you tell by the horrible filming that I wasn't even looking? Just holding the camera on my shoulder with one hand, driving with the other.)

Sing, Sing, a Song
Sing, sing a song-
Make it simple
To last your whole life long!
Don't worry that its not good enough
For anyone else to hear.
Just sing, sing a song!

I realized a few days ago that I've really fallen off the video wagon. I haven't made any videos of Katie Anne in quite some time. In fact, I took our nice video camera to Florida this year, and then didn't make a single video the whole week we were on vacation! Yikes! Of course, I've got about 10,000 pictures to make up for it, but still ... I need to do better on the videos.
So, when we were driving around after buying Hoppy yesterday, Katie Anne was in a musical mood, singing tons of songs. When we got home, I sat her up at the kitchen table and tried to catch a few on video.
Video #1: In this first one, Katie Anne sings Itsy Bitsy Spider. (You'll also hear Saunders leaving me a voicemail on my cell phone.) I love how she completely enunciates the words - you'll see what I mean when you watch it. Also, she wants to sing Mr. Sun at the end, which must be a song they sing at school because I don't know it. And, apparently, she might not either. :)

Video #2: In this second one, Katie Anne sings a song that Saunders taught her called Peanut Butter. It is so funny! We love to hear her sing this one. This is what she was singing in the car, and this is what I was trying to get on tape. I love the George McFly laugh at the end, too.
In case you can't get it all, the words are:
Peanut sat on a railroad track
And his heart was all a-flutter.
Down the track came a choo-choo train,
Uh-oh! Peanut Butter!

New and Improved ABC Song
Yesterday, while we were waiting out the brief rainstorm in the library parking lot, Katie Anne read her Animal Alphabet to me. (I'll try to get a video of her reading that for posterity, because it is so funny... she gets "A is for alligator" and "B is for Bear", but then every other animal starts either with an S or a P.) Then, she sang the ABC song at the end while she pointed at the letters on the last page. One of her favorite things to do now is singing. Her ABC song has improved dramatically in the last ten days since she sang it this time on May 18.
It is crazy how much she's learning and growing every single day!

Katie Anne Videos
Tonight, on the way home from the grocery store, Katie Anne sang a beautiful song to me. It lasted about ten minutes, and it was so stinkin' cute I almost died. We probably literally almost died because I kept looking in the rear view mirror, watching her sing and dance... she even had little movements with the song. I could not figure out what she was singing, but it definitely had a tune to it because she kept repeating it over and over.
When we got out of the car at home, I asked her to sing it for Saunders, and she gave him an abbreviated version which he immediately recognized as the ABC's. Good job, first grade teacher... it was abundantly obvious that was it once he said it! Of course, she does not make the right sounds in the right order or actually say any letters, but she's got some of them (like E) down nicely, and she really has the tune when she wants to. So, my idea was to get her to sing it again for the video camera once we got home. Since it was so late, she had to go immediately to the tub, and she wasn't that into singing it again. I did get her to do a little bit... here's the video. At the end, I think she asks for a prize! I know she asks for a cookie, which I thought was very funny. (By the way, see if you can hear when she makes her own little "musical accompaniment"... and I laugh... in the video!)
Even though she was done with her singing for the most part (which is a shame... it really was so good in the car), she did want to do her animal sounds. Here's a video of her doing some of them.
