Glawson Family Thanksgiving

The weekend after Thanksgiving, we got together with Gigi, Granddad, Greg, Jillian, and little newby Caroline to celebrate Thanksgiving with them!  We also kicked off the Christmas season by helping my parents decorate their house.  Katie Anne made a gingerbread house for Gigi and Granddad's table for the holidays.  We had dinner at my parents' house, and then we helped them decorate their Christmas tree.  It was a lot of fun to put up their tree together - I haven't helped with that since I lived at home!  The kids had a great time putting up Gigi and Granddad's tree, too.  I hope that's a tradition we continue.  Here are some pictures of our time together.

Putting Up The Tree

After the Elf on the Shelf breakfast, we kept the holiday spirit going by putting up the Christmas tree!

The reason there are no finished pictures of the tree is because - once we got to about this point in our decorating - we realized that the new tree we'd just recently bought was WAY too small for our living room space.  So, we moved it into the dining room and, after lunch and SJ's nap, we headed out to Lowe's for a bigger tree!  It was a bit of a pain to have to buy two new trees this year, but all of our old trees have been in the family since our college apartment days, so we've definitely gotten our money's worth out of them.  Plus, anyone who knows me well knows I don't mind have an extra Christmas tree at all - the more trees, the merrier!

Elf on the Shelf Breakfast

This morning, our Elf on the Shelf - Frisbee - returned from the North Pole!  Apparently, Frisbee had seen a great idea for an Elf on the Shelf Breakfast on Pinterest this year, so he set up a big surprise breakfast for the kids this morning.

Frisbee brought special holiday pajamas in a Santa box, and he left them outside the kids' bedroom doors this morning.  Katie Anne could not believe her eyes when she saw the box!  Being the sweet big sister that she is, she wouldn't open the box without SJ.  They were so excited - and so cute in their new pajamas!
Once they were all dressed and ready for the holiday kick-off breakfast, we went into the kitchen to see what surprises were there for us!

I hope I never forget the look of total wonder on their precious faces.

Frisbee left notes at each of the kids' place setting, reminding them to be good and mentioning some of the special items they want this year!

We had cinnamon rolls, powdered donuts, bananas, and chocolate milk for our special breakfast!

We read the Elf on the Shelf book together after we'd eaten our breakfast.
It was a special way to kick off the holiday season for the kids, and I hope this is a tradition that we keep going in the future!

Jones Family Thanksgiving

On the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we celebrated with Saunders's family at Doc and VJ's house.  Trisha's family and Grandmama were also able to join us there for lunch!  Grandmama brought a fun turkey craft for the kids to do.  We had a good time together!  Here are some pictures of the Jones family Thanksgiving.
