Katie Anne's Family Poster

At Katie Anne's "school" (aka daycare), they occasionally have family at-home projects to complete and send in. Last year, Katie Anne's first project was the pumpkin decorating contest. She (um... I) made a baby pumpkin, complete with a little pacifier in its mouth, and won third place! (I must credit Jill Caswell here for the baby pumpkin idea circa Jason Cousin's baby shower in, um... 2004? Thanks, Jill!)

So, for the back-to-school season, Katie Anne's project was to create a "family board" showcasing all the members of her family. Since our family is HUGE, there's no way I could feature everyone, so I chose a few family pictures of the three of us as well as one picture each of Katie Anne with both sets of grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

I knew Katie Anne couldn't be a huge part of the choosing/printing/copying/gluing pictures process. So, I decided to let her fingerpaint the background of the posterboard. This was her first time really fingerpainting at home! Here's the photo montage of the creative process as it took place on Sunday afternoon.

Katie Anne is not sure about this project.
Could this be another of Momma's goofy ideas?
Oh, look, here comes Daddy to the rescue!
"Hold me, Daddy!"
"Save me... Momma's about to make me do my first school project!"
Once we got outside (and she saw that Saunders was going to participate),
she started liking the painting idea.
Competitive paint stacking
Making handprints for grass
Painting flowers
"Alright, Daddy, let's clean up!"
The project after Katie Anne's part was finished.
The finished family poster!
