Happy 50th Birthday, Mom!

Yesterday, 8-8-08 at 8:08 PM, was Cindy's 50th Birthday! We took the whole family to Waterstone Grill - seems to be our birthday celebration place of choice lately, but it is just really good food that you can't get everywhere, a nice "special" restaurant with good ambiance, not too crowded, and not too far of a drive.

We had such a fun time! Katie Anne was remarkably good at the dinner table for the first hour and a half we were there (got a little antsy during that last thirty minutes, but some walks around downtown Acworth and the bringing of the desserts solved that problem). Everyone had yummy food - well, except for Jillian's spinach and scallops combo - and we had a wonderful server who brought Katie Anne's food early, kept our drinks full, and took our picture!

We did not give Mom all of her gifts... her big gifts are too big to bring into a restaurant, so we're taking them today. However, I did think she needed to open something on her actual birthday, so we brought her 50th birthday scrapbook, which some of you blog-readers participated in making! I had sent out a letter, return envelope, and scrapbook page to Mom's friends and family, asking them to make a page about memories of her first 50 years. We got an INCREDIBLE response... the book was so packed, it would hardly lay flat! I kept having to go back to Hobby Lobby and buy more page protectors... I finally just broke down and bought the pack of 50! There were lots of funny stories and great pictures of Mom throughout her life. She LOVED it. And yes, as many had predicted she would, she cried, but I was not cruel enough to take a picture of that!

Well, the celebrations continue today. Dad has rented a GIANT "party barge" with two stories, a real bathroom, and even a slide for us to take out on the lake today, and then Mamaw is cooking us all birthday dinner (please, please let there be her homemade blueberry cobbler there). Thank goodness the bathing suit phase of the party comes before the blueberry cobbler phase! More pictures to come!

PS- Guess the party wasn't THAT exciting... looks like these two were bored! :)
