UGA vs Central Michigan

This weekend, we headed back to Athens for another Georgia game! We had such a fun time!

This time, we took my family- Gigi, Granddad, Greg, and Jillian. Katie Anne also made her annual trip to Athens to see the Dawgs!

We went over Friday night and spent the night at the condo. We weren't able to get the cable hooked up (don't ask... long story), so we brought the Wii and we had a great time playing that. We had a big Wii bowling tournament... Katie and Jillian vs. Thomas and Greg. Needless to say, Jillian and I kicked tail!

Katie Anne loved everyone running around, relaxing, and playing. It is a surreal feeling to see your kid running barefoot and playing through the same rooms where you spent your college years. Saunders and I kept saying to each other, "Did you ever think 6 or 7 or 8 years ago we'd have a kid playing in the condo one day?" She loved it because there's not much furniture there anymore, so she had tons of room to run and run.
She and her Daddy played football, which he just LOVED. Katie Anne learned a new word... "Fumble!"

We were amazed at her this weekend... she's grown up so much since last year when we took her to Athens. Last year, she did enjoy the dog walk and Wild Wing, but she cried a lot while doing the walking that's a major part of the Athens experience, and we didn't try spending the night with her. This year, she was just a champ and rolled with it all day. She was in a pleasant mood from the minute we left until the minute we got back, did great in the car rides, and just had an amazing time. Anybody who has spent any amount of time around Katie Anne knows how obsessed she is with UGA, and so she was in heaven to be surrounded by all that red and black. She kept saying, "Georgia!" and "Uga!" and "Football!" (or as she says it, "Uttball!") everywhere we went. She had such a good time and enjoyed everything. She even fared well in the extreme heat while we were out and about downtown. Saunders has definitely got his little Georgia fan here... we joked all weekend that we packed all the UGA fan-ness into one kid, and our son will probably be a Tech fan!

On Saturday morning, we got up and went downtown. We did our traditional Wild Wing visit and ate wings for lunch. Then, we strolled through North Campus, let Katie Anne play in the "Family Friendly" area, and made some pictures. (My mom's pictures are better than mine, so I'll post those later... my camera lens fogged up from being in my sweaty pocket!) We went to the Dog Walk, and Katie Anne loved watching the band play... we were much closer to the band this year, so she really got to hear them this time. She clapped her hands, swayed to the beat, and said, "Yay!"

After that, she was exhausted and fell asleep in the stroller, so Jillian and I pushed her back up to the condo for a nap while Saunders, Greg, Gigi, and Granddad went to the game. They had a great time watching an exciting UGA win, and we finished the night with more Wii, yummy Pokey sticks and pizza rolls from Gumby's (Katie Anne's first taste of an Uncle Carlton tradition), and then a late-night drive back to C'ville.

It was a great weekend!

What a fun weekend! She seems like a die-hard UGA already. You've trained her well. :-)
