A Real Runway Model!

You may remember that Katie Anne is an avid Project Runway fan and loves to stalk the runways with her fierce face.  Well, today she really got the chance to walk in a fashion show!  We get lots of Katie Anne's and SJ's embroidered clothes from my friend Tara at Collections by Tara Nicole.  Tara sells her stuff directly through her blog, but she also sells her embroidered items at Gigi's Hidden Treasures, a local store owned by my friend - and former 8th grade rec soccer teammate! - Hannah.  This weekend was the Taste of Cartersville downtown, and Hannah was participating in a fashion show showcasing local vendors' clothing selections.  So, Tara asked if Katie Anne would be interested in modeling some of her new Christmas shirts, and of course our little model was more than ready!

Katie Anne was sooo excited about modeling today.  This morning, she practiced her fierce walk and pouty face all morning long - she marched all over the house with her hands on her hips.  She changed from her black pants to her skinny jeans ... and then back to her black pants again ... but we took the jeans in SJ's diaper bag just in case.  She changed shoes twice and finally settled on her "fashion model shoes" - her new black shiny patent leather mary janes with three little diamonds on the buckle.  She wanted me to take three possible hairbows with me in the bag, too ... but I had to draw the line somewhere, so we settled on red.  She didn't think 12:30 was ever going to get here!

Finally, we got to go to Gigi's and get dressed in her "I Believe" Santa shirt.  She was so pumped, and she got a little nervous when she saw the big crowd waiting to watch the show - including Daddy and SJ, Gigi and Granddad, Doc and VJ, and Mamaw.  By the time she was ready to walk out, she was over her bit of nerves and ready to go ... but she was disappointed that she just got to walk over to the stage and stand there.  She wanted to work a full runway!  She had her end-of-the-runway pose down to a science - it included a smirk with drawn eyebrows, then a smile, then a turn and over-the-shoulder smolder.  However, she made the most of it and worked it as hard as she could in the distance she had to walk, and she got a great reaction from the crowd with her twisty walk and hands on hips.  My guess is that most people thought she was pouty onstage, though ... let's face it:  your average Georgia fashion show watcher just doesn't recognize the haute couture pose and facial expression of a true New York runway model.  Katie Anne had a great time overall and says she can't wait to model again!
Here are pictures from her day as a runway diva...
