Saunders 30th Birthday Dinner

Tonight, we celebrated Saunders's 30th birthday with dinner at my parents' house.  My mom cooked a very delicious grill-out dinner of sliders, ribs, nachos, baked beans, deviled eggs, and more!  It was all really, really good, and we all pigged out.  Katie Anne had never tried a deviled egg before, but she does like boiled eggs, so we got her to try one.  She didn't really like the yellow center, but she loved the white ... and she thought they were little cakes!  She kept asking for more of the little cake with the yellow scraped out, and she ate about five of them them!

SJ was asleep when we made this picture...

So he got his own picture with Daddy when he was awake...

After dinner, we headed out into my parents' garage for a surprise ... old school party games!  Since Saunders was turning 30, my mom didn't want him to think he had a boring, fuddy-duddy party - she wanted to bring back some of the childhood birthday party fun.  So, we had a pinata filled with candy and pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, too!  It was really fun- everybody had a blast cutting up and acting silly while playing the games.

Then, we came back inside for opening presents.  Saunders loved all his presents.  His big gift from me is a trip to Las Vegas!  We're going with Josh and Vanessa McWhorter to Vegas for a few days at the end of October. (Josh turned thirty a few weeks ago, so Vanessa and I planned to take them both on a trip to Las Vegas as a big birthday surprise for them.)  So, he didn't get a present from me to open - he just got a card with the details for our trip inside.  He did get great gifts from everyone else, though.  Katie Anne picked out his gift from her and Baby SJ herself, and she was so excited about it.  She got him a tennis racket and tennis balls since they'd talked about playing tennis together on the courts in our neighborhood.  Of course, she had to get a little Dora racket for herself too!  From my parents, Saunders got money to spend in Las Vegas, and he got a set of UGA Tervis Tumblers that he'd asked for from Greg and Jillian!

After all that fun, it was time for cake.  My mom got Saunders a chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream cake and little red velvet ice cream cupcakes from Cold Stone Creamery, and they were delicious!  Saunders loved his so much that he kept eating mine whenever I had to leave the table to check on SJ4!

It was a great 30th birthday celebration!
