Katie Anne's First Steps!

Katie Anne has been trying really hard to take those first steps for the past week or so. Since last weekend, she has been walking all around the coffee tables and couches, pushing around anything that isn't nailed down, and walking everywhere holding on to someone's hand. She's taken a couple of "steps", but it was really more of a stomp... no forward progress. More importantly, Momma didn't have a camera handy when those happened, so those aren't official. :)

Well, today, at Angela's for lunch, she took two steps! First, she walked from her Daddy to the coffee table... she took one step without holding on to anything before she reached the coffee table. I got a picture of that one...

Then, we tried to get her to do it again for the video camera. It is kind of hard to catch her taking a step here, but if you watch the video and listen to Greg and I talking, you can tell where it is... it is her third attempt after Greg stands her up. On her first try, she almost falls over into the chair. On her second try, you can barely hear her say, "Like this?" just before she does a BIG leg lift into the air- very funny! Then, she does it- a little step!!! It kind of looks like she's sliding the apple in her hand toward his leg, but Greg says there was no contact between his leg and the apple or her hand, so we counted it as her second official step!

We bet real walking isn't far away! And, once all that toddler walking and running begins, it'll be "Katie, bar the door"... literally!

How exciting! I know you are thrilled that she's walking...and what a wonderful way to celebrate Father's Day!

Yea for Katie Anne! I love reading about her adventures and milestones; I keep thinking "Will Emma Grace really be that big and doing those things in just a year's time from now?!?" :) Katie Anne is helping me learn all that I have to look forward to!

Just get ready....the fun really starts now! I think Makinley may take after her brother and be an early walker...she is already cruising on all the furniture and walking behind things pushing them. I guess she thinks she needs to keep up with the Trippster. Heaven help me when I have two that can run from me! :-) I love the video and the "Like that?" by KA. SO CUTE!
