Well, I've experienced another one of those moments that tell me my little baby is quickly becoming a real big girl.
This picture...
is of my daughter,
in the playroom,
in the basement,
by herself,
watching a movie,
while I make dinner
UPSTAIRS.
And, this was totally her idea! When we were unloading the car, she asked if we could play in the playroom. I explained to her that I had to start dinner, and she said, "Okay, how about I play down here while you start supper?" I asked her a few times to make sure, but she was totally comfortable hanging out in the playroom by herself.
I was a lot more worried about her being down in the basement than she was... I kept coming down to check on her every few minutes, but she was totally fine! She watched some classic Care Bears, and then built a city out of blocks until dinner was ready.
I just can't believe how grown-up - and independent - she's getting!

Yeah, isn't she 3 going on 30???
That is one big girl!
This is a skill you'll appreciate all over again when baby #2 comes home.
I agree with your friend Kelly...you'll be encouraging and truly appreciating this independence in a few months!
Just wait until your new baby is here. Then she'll seem SO old and SO big to you. Plus, you'll be happy she can entertain herself and be happy on her own.
Gosh, I can't believe how big she is getting! She acts so much older than "almost 3".
