Jones Family Christmas

On December 26, we headed over to Saunders' parents' house to celebrate Christmas with the Joneses!  We changed things up a little bit this year.  Usually, we celebrate with Saunders' family on Christmas Eve, but Trisha had to work until 1:00 pm in Moultrie on Christmas Eve this year.  So, we rescheduled our family celebration for this morning, which wound up being an excellent change for our family since this kids were so sick - we would've had to miss the celebration on Christmas Eve!

So, we traveled over to Doc and VJ's for brunch and gift opening.  We had a tasty breakfast with lots of goodies - meatballs, rolls, breakfast casserole, ham, and french toast (by far the most popular item!), plus lots of sweet treats for munching.  Everyone enjoyed sitting around the table and chatting and stuffing ourselves full of all the yummy food!

Then, it was time for opening gifts.  The living room was full of presents!  Saunders picked out VJ's gift himself - he got her a handmade pottery bowl from a local Cartersville artist.  We gave Doc an equalizer t-shirt that really responds to sound - we thought it would be cool to wear to band practice!  Then, we gave them both their traditional Christmas gift - a photo book of family photos that I've made throughout the year.  We gave Carlton the dvd of Inception that he wanted as well as a video game, and we gave Trisha a knitting book, several scrapbooking punches that she'd asked for, and a crazy gift just for fun - a Mini Cooper racetrack!  We got lots of fun stuff as well.  Saunders got causal shirts, dress shirts, a beautiful decanter, and cash.  I got several sweaters I can wear to work, bright scarves, and other nice things.  Katie Anne got lots of toys, games, clothes, and several "housekeeping" gifts - a cool grill from Carlton and Trisha and a play kitchen from Doc and VJ to keep at their house and play with there.  Poor little SJ was so tired - the brunch celebration coincided with his morning nap - so he spent most of the gift opening time asleep in the guest bedroom.  Katie Anne was more than happy to help open his pile of presents, though!  He got lots of clothes - including a vest that Aunt Trisha knitted herself! - and toys.

SJ finally work up and  - after a quick nebulizer treatment - he was ready to play!

After playing with our new toys for awhile, it was time to load up the four-wheel drive sleigh and head for home!  It was a wonderful last celebration of Christmas!
