Katie Anne's Christmas Party at School ... and a Boyfriend!

Katie Anne had her Christmas party with her friends at school on December 23.  Even though she didn't have to go to school today because I was off work, there was no way she was missing the party!  So, she went to school for the morning, and then SJ and I headed over for the party at lunchtime.  It was a great party - probably the best one in her daycare/school years so far!  After lunch, the kids had their Christmas snacks - cookies, cheese, crackers, and a juice box.  Then, they got to use their juice box to create a gingerbread house.  Since KA had a large juice box, her gingerbread house turned out to be more like a gingerbread skyscraper!  After they made their houses, they had their book exchange.  Each child had brought a book to exchange with a friend.  Chauncey gave Katie Anne a great My Little Pony book, and Kaitlyn got Katie Anne's gift - a Max and Ruby book.  When the kids laid down for naptime after the book exchange, we headed back home.  We were really glad we went to school for the celebration because it was a really fun party!

SJ spent most of the party time in his classroom, chilling out in the swing.  He did come over to KA's room for a few minutes so all the kids could see him.

Katie Anne and the illustrious Talan...
Talan is Katie Anne's first "boyfriend", although I'm not sure he knows about it.  It took LOTS of bribery from me to get her to pose for a picture anywhere even close to him, but I wanted to have one for her to see later!  For several weeks, she's told us about her boyfriend Talan at school.  Apparently, all the little girls have boyfriends, but it is absolutely forbidden to tell the boys that they are in fact someone's boyfriend.  Katie Anne has all kinds of ideas about her boyfriend Talan and her wedding (Chauncey is a bridesmaid and Aubrey is a flower girl).  Apparently, she's going to wear Gigi's wedding dress and Talan is going to borrow his grandfather's suit.  She said that the only thing that Dad and I will have to pay for is the food - she'll pay for her own decorations and Talan will pay for everything else.  So, that sounds like a good plan to me!  I talked to Mrs. Lakin about it a few weeks ago to make sure it wasn't a problem at school, and she said it wasn't - the girls giggle about their boyfriends, but the poor boys are clueless.  She also said Talan was the best choice from the boys' bunch!  From what I saw today at the party, Talan is a very good kid - quiet, a good listener who follows directions, and he was a diligent worker on his gingerbread house.  So, I guess her first boyfriend was a pretty good pick!  :)

I say, "Way to go, Katie Anne! What a good pick!"

I love that he has absolutely no clue that any of this is going on.

Talan seems cute...but that sounds like "bad boy" kind of name. Let's hope he keeps his priorities straight so he can pay for that wedding!
