Also taking ideas from Jillian’s and Stacey’s blogs, here are – in no particular order – 9 things I’m looking forward to in 2009…
- Katie Anne turning 2! I can’t believe that, in just over three months, we’ll have a two-year-old running around! It is still surprising that she’s growing up so fast.
- Finishing the rest of the basement. I can’t wait to get the playroom finished so we’ll have a place to organize all of KA’s toys and I’ll have a permanent home for my sewing/crafting/painting equipment.
- Trying my hand at teaching kindergarten. Since my position is a looping one, I’ll be taking on a class of brand-new kindergarteners in the fall. Should be an exciting change!
- Changes in Saunders’s career. It’s wonderful that, even in this bleak economic time, Saunders’s career is still growing at Century. They’ve got a lot of great plans in store for him in 2009!
- Summer break with Katie Anne. Last year, Katie Anne and I had so much fun together- we were able to do all sorts of neat activities. I know that, with her growing up so much, our options will be endless for fun times together.
- Getting in better shape. I love my Wii Fit so much that I got up at
- Improvements in the economy. 2008 took a toll on the investments of people across the world, and we were no exception. Saunders and I work very hard to save as much money as possible and invest it wisely for our future, and I look forward to resurgence in the markets!
- Making more projects. Even though I’m not starting new hobbies, that doesn’t mean I’m dropping my old ones! I’ve got lots of thoughts about projects I want to work on this year, including more sewing projects (branching beyond just dresses for KA), painting ideas (can’t wait to bust out my oil paints again), and lots and lots of scrapbooking to do!
- Organizing and cleaning out my house. My obsessive organization has taken a slip since school started back in August- changing grade levels took a lot more energy than I thought, and mono didn’t help my efforts at home. I’ve got lots of plans to reorganize and get rid of lots of clutter, and I can’t wait to get started.

I, too, look forward to a resurgence. Most economists predict anywhere from a -10% to 10% return in the S&P 500 for the year with some scattered above and below those marks, which make me more bullish than ever because most predicted double digit returns for '08. Obviously, they were quite wrong.
The other thing is the basement. Where is the full service wet bar? Priorities, Katie, priorities.
