There's a New Sheriff in town...

and Katie Anne would like to tell you the new sheriff's name:

Regardless of your politics, today's inauguration was one for the history books. I watched the whole event live with my students, who were mostly interested in why the youngest Obama girl was wearing orange. (They thought red would've been a better choice... what fashion critics.) I thought his speech was very eloquent... I heard he wrote it himself. If that's true, he did a good job.

I am always impressed by events like these... the pomp and ceremony is really something to watch. Seeing the first African-American President take office is one of those "Where were you when..." moments. Also, it is such an incredible thing that today marks the 44th time power has peacefully changed hands between Commanders in Chief in America. As you watch events unfold in other parts of the world and see the blood shed as leaders vie for position, you can't deny that it is wonderful thing we've got going.

I didn't vote for Obama, but I respect the President regardless of whether I voted for him or not. I don't agree with all of his ideas, but I hope he's able to make good on some of the promises he's made that would be good for this country. I wish him all the luck in the world; I hope he leaves the country better than he found it; and I hope we're in a lot better position in four years than we are today.
