1. Understood the concept of dressing up, trick-or-treating, getting candy, etc.
2. Chose her own costume and was excited about dressing up.
3. Went up to neighbor's doors, said "Trick or Treat!" and got her own candy.
So, that meant it was a totally different - and totally fun - Halloween experience for all of us! We really didn't know what to expect or how much Katie Anne would be interested in doing, but she was PUMPED about the whole Halloween process. She started days before with her "self talk" about that whole "ring the doorbell, say trick or treat, get candy, say thank you, repeat" process. She even practiced what to do - and she did that on her own, not on her momma's suggestion - at our deck door for two days prior to Halloween! So, when the actual day arrived, she was very excited and had a very good time.
On the day of Halloween, we went to get her picture made at Tonsmeire's in the morning. She got very, very nervous and tearful when we got there - I think she just got totally overwhelmed by the whole thing. I think her "smile" might have looked rather pitiful, but we'll see when the pictures come back next week. Of course, I'll post those when they come back - it will be on Nov. 10, I think.
After a lunch at Red Lobster and a nice long nap, Katie Anne was up and raring to go. Doc and VJ had volunteered to sit at our house and pass out candy so we both could take KA trick or treating. So, they came over for a quick pizza dinner before it was time for us to go. Then, I got Katie Anne all dolled up in her Snow White outfit, and we headed out into the drizzly night to trick-or-treat!
All dressed up and feeling silly!
First stop... Gigi and Granddad's house!
Trick or treat!

Gigi gives Katie Anne lots of Halloween surprises
But the biggest surprise was a little blue car!
Beep beep! Katie Anne totally loves it!
She calls it her "Little Element" and loads the backseat up with stuffed animals.
Next, it was all around the neighborhood for more trick-or-treating! We rode in the back of the real Element to avoid walking up and down all those hills in the rain.
Walking up to a house with Daddy
The Good Little Witch - Lauren Duckett - came to trick-or-treat at our house!
We thought we might just trick-or-treat a few houses, but we trick-or-treated for hours! Katie Anne loved the whole thing and kept saying, "Let's go to one more house. Just one more." So, we kept going and going! Finally, about 8:30, we headed for home. She couldn't wait to show VJ and Doc all her candy and prizes.
Ready to dive in to all that candy!
With Doc and VJ
When I made this picture, it was 9:45 pm, and this girl's still smiling with chocolate all over her mouth! Katie Anne stayed up late - until about 10:00 pm - tasting all kinds of candy that she'd gotten. She had such a fun time the whole evening, and she slept in big time the next morning... until almost 9:00!
What a fun night!
Happy Halloween!

You did such a great job on her costume! She looked adorable. Glad she enjoyed her Halloween night so much!
She is such a LITTLE GIRL!!! Not a baby anymore!! KA is just precious!!
Awesome job on the costume...it looks fantastic...she's the perfect Snow White!
I love the "little element!" Too funny! KA looked princess perfect!!
I agree - you really knocked it out of the park with that costume. I'm glad KA loved her first real Halloween. Bella, too, demanded we keep tricka treatin' much after I thought we'd be home.
This is SOOOOOOOOOOO cute! I love everything about KA's costume--it turned out perfectly! The cape was a classy finishing touch.
It's so cool that she wanted to stay out so late and hit up as many houses as possible--she must have put two and two together, thinking, "the more houses we go to, the longer I can be Snow White, and the more candy I'll get to eat!"
